Help about coin weights

Good night to all

I'd like to know if the weight is reliable to define if a coin is real or a replica. Also if is normal a variation of 0,1 or 0,2 gr in the weight.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sadoca,

It's ONE of the things that can help you determine a coins authenticity. The more valuable the coin, the more tests you will need to perform to be confident you have a real one.

Variations depend on the specific coins. 0.2 grams may be within range for some, and out of range for others. Generally older [pre 18th century] coins have more leeway.
Hi Oggy

Thanks for your help, it was very useful.
I really appreciate.

Thanks, regards

Also factor in any wear if necessary if ever under weight.
