When the catalog indicates very rare, what does that mean? Is there any data for this coin?
Hello Kevin, to which catalogue is it you're referring?

Maybe ten pence?...km938b?....
Ah, thank you Luca, much appreciated. To start with, I have removed the 'rarity' comments since we have no evidence of how many examples were either struck or remain. Also, since 88 members on this site alone seem to have this type in their collection, it is unlikely that it is even scarce. I am also slightly concerned that the pictorial example in the catalogue shows the 1997 type 2A flat edge so the '92 might not even exist? I will try to do some more research on these and come back to you.

Ok, I have done a little research and it was slightly reassuring to see that a Google search for '1992 10 pence edge varieties' returned the top two answers as links to Numista. Firstly, this topic has been discussed several times before, the earliest thread being here. Secondly, I have tried to clarify the details of the varieties by updating the Numista catalogue listing here. However, to the best of my knowledge, there is no mintage data available for the different varieties so I am unable to comment on their relative scarcity. In the case of any UK coinage, I would always recommend a visit to Tony Clayton's website at coins-of-the-uk.co.uk. Hope this helps. R
