This wasnt issued in color. The coloring was added to the coin. Considered post mint damage.

The obverse looks weird to me, UK coins don't say "Fifty Pence" under the Queen's head, and they have dates on them.
Edit - OK so some 50p's do say "Fifty Pence" under the Queen's head, but not the Olympic set.

You can buy stickers which colourise designs (very popular with Beatrice potter 50ps). Maybe someone suck it over the wrong 50p

You have to ask WHY anyone would want to buy a sticker for a coin!
But I think you are right about it being stuck on the wrong 50p.
