Obverse
(en) At upper left and right, an octagonal pinwheel motif with numeral 1 in center. Main central vignette depicts an allegory of Lady Liberty sitting on a throne, surrounded by small pots of vegetation and an eagle. At lower right is a female allegory of agriculture, holding a sheaf of wheat. At lower left is a portrait of Adnah Sackett, the bank's original president.

In 1851, Bank of America was incorporated in Providence, Rhode Island with Adnah Sackett as the bank's first president. In 1890, it was reorganized as the Bank of America Loan & Trust Company. This institution is not related to the modern Bank of America based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Remainder notes like this were never issued and don't have a serial number or signature. Notes of this series were printed on sheets of three $1 and one $2 notes.
