Obverse
(en) At upper left and right, a pinwheel motif with numeral 2 in center. Central vignette depicts an allegorical young woman holding the staff of caduceus, leaning upon boxes and a barrel at a beach, with sailing ships in the distance. Lower left vignette is an allegorical young woman holding a tablet and standing an anvil and hammer, a cog wheel, and a pillar.
At lower right is a portrait of Adnah Sackett, the bank's original president.

In 1851, Bank of America was incorporated in Providence, Rhode Island with Adnah Sackett as the bank's first president. In 1890, it was reorganized as the Bank of America Loan & Trust Company. This institution is not related to the modern Bank of America based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Remainder notes like this were never issued and don't have a serial number or signature. Notes of this series were printed on sheets of three $1 and one $2 notes.
