Description

Three thousand years ago David conquered Jerusalem from the Jebusites. The Zion Fortress was seized by the commander of David's forces, Joab, by means of the "Zinnor," apparently a secret tunnel cut from the Gihon spring leading to the city. The City of David was established on the Jebusite Ridge, above the Siloam Spring, surrounded by deep ravines on three sides. On the north side rose the mount where the Temple would be built. David turned Jerusalem into the capital of the Kingdom of Israel. All of the institutions and powers, political and spiritual, were centralized in one place under his leadership. His son Solomon completed the task and constructed the Temple. Subsequent conquests did not dim the memory of Jerusalem as David's city.

The medals are presented in a beautiful "Jerusalem" Folder.
