I think I have seen a similar post earlier but cannot find it. I noticed that "My Values" at my coin collection are changing almost every day. Even when I do not add, delete, change any of my coins. I currently have 83% of my coins with "My value". The changes fluctuate between $20-50.
To my understanding, "My values" are the values that I put myself, and they should not be affected by any other factors (exchange rate, silver/gold price, etc/).
Quote: "Sorxus"I would say it is because of changing exchange value of different currencies...
I thought so too. But to my understanding, I put the values in USD, and it shows me the values in USD. So, theoretically, there should be no changes there.
But from yesterday it changed again +$90. Earlier, it dropped.
The values are internally stored in euros (with the exchange rate of the day when you entered the value) and displayed in your currency (US dollar) with the exchange rate of the day.
Probably it should be possible to have the value in USD without conversion back and forth, if all your values are in USD.
We should also take into account inflation. 100 USD on January 1st 2016 is equivalent to 110.28 USD today. So with the assumption that the numismatic market is stable, if you bought a coin 100. USD on 01-Jan-2016, it would be worth 110.28 USD today. Of course there are many factors which make this assumption far from being accurate, but it's still worth being taken into account.
Euro was more stable during that period, so Numista would show 108.77 USD today, and probably a slightly different value tomorrow. This is closer to the value corrected for inflation than your original value of 100 USD.
Ideally, the values should be stored in a stable currency or index, or at least corrected for the inflation of euro.
