I have exchanged several messages with MaxCoinSwap. He wrote to be interested to buy my whole collection but wanted to start small. He proactively insisted to use PayPal. While this is all a good sign, I explained that PP without an underlying transaction on a site with a PP contract does not offer any protection at all. I insisted on using Hood.de or Ebay to transact first because I already have a few coins there and MaxCoinSwap wrote he was interested in the 1966 Sovereign. He declined. He agreed on the price for my Malawi Kwacha coins.
I also asked if he was willing to pay for the tariffs, dues, shipping and insurance into the USA and he replied with a Yes. To test his genuine interest, I showed more expensive prices and shipping for the Sovereign for a sale via Numista, than for the same coin on Hood but equal to my Ebay prices. I got no reaction. I assumed a genuine buyer would spot the difference and argue for the lower price.
All in all, I have not been able to ascertain this member’s real intentions.
I decided to give MaxCoinSwap the benefit of the doubt and we got close to confirming a swap. But I asked him, because of the "Suspicious Activity" flag, that he send his coins first, and I would send mine after receipt. I got no reply and never heard from MaxCoinSwap again.
