Zero euro banknotes

I've heard about these banknotes but don't know too much ab them. All I know is that you can get them in shops for 2 euro a piece. Anyone got any information on them or have any examples?
On the Colnect website there are 2,205 of these banknotes across 51 countries, with France having the highest number at 735.
Even countries not in Europe, or indeed in the Euro monetary zone have issued some, including two from the UK.
I'm just a collector of coins, not a slave to it, unless I am in a coin shop.
For all you banknote collectors. Link to my swap list.

Since the common banknotes (5 euro and up) are in all Eurozone countries, they cannot have designs or architecture from only one country. Instead, they had to feature abstract buildings and architecture to be equal to all Eurozone nations to circulate in the Eurozone. However, Eurozone countries still wanted to express their culture, and in came the 0 euro note. These notes are the same material as circulating euro notes and that have the same security features as regular circulating euro notes (excluding France when they had a [don't quote me on this] 5-banknote set where all the 0 euro notes were polymer). These are usually available at conventions or even the central bank in some cases. The 0 euro notes are a way for countries to display their culture and history on banknotes without it appear to favor any one country on regular circulating notes.
I don't think the countries or national banks have anything to do with these notes ... they are issued by private companies, comparably to the touristic tokens you find all over the world.

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!
