Dear all, I'm very new to coin and note collecting. I started with my inherited coin collection and have categorise them on Numista. I have now started with the few notes I have.

There is one I'm battling to find. Any help will be appreciated.... i can find similar types, but none with Lourenc(5) Marques...

Wow! Interesting & tough note you've got there. At first I thought it was from Angola but then entered "Laurenco Margues" to reveal he was an explorer of Mozambique.

So I got this link from Bank Note Museum which shows a 50 Centavos banknote which is P-58. (I don't believe it is P-55 because the ship seal has a different ship & not P-61 because there's a letter in front of the serial number- which yours does not have). The Banknote Index also has an entry on this note.

It has yet to be added to Numista -which you can do if you scroll down to the bottom of the Mozambique page. Hope that helps!

Being from South Africa, I know Lourenso Marques is now Mozambique... we used to listen to LM radio back in the day 😂

doing more research now!
I looked and looked... and decided to post it into the Numista catalogue.... I really cannot see this note on the database... I will find out if I am silly when the referees look at my request....

Thank you for your help!

Yes, please add the note. Maybe I was unclear about that in my first reply.
(The links I provided were from other sites as reference for your info).

To add your note, just scroll to the bottom of any page on banknotes:

And hit the link "Add it yourself"
You should have the next page that looks:

And may wish to read some info on the links about adding notes. The registry will be there for you to add your note but usually takes time for a referee to vet/validate the data you entered. Don't worry we all make silly mistakes! Good luck!

Thanks, yes, i did read the guidelines first and I think I added the correct info. I also added better pictures than the ones I posted here... lets see what happens, would be nice to add the note to "my collection" :D
This note is a Mozambique P-58, based on the seal and serial number, as previously mentioned. Just wanted to add that Lourenço Marques (on the note) refers to the capital city of Mozambique at the time. The name was changed to Maputo in 1976.
