Belgium KM 49 or 53

I have a 1903 10 centiemen. Does anyone know how to distinguish between these two coins. The picture for KM 49 is really KM 53, so that is no help.

Hi Evelynn,

according to my very out of date catalogue, it appears to be the date. #49 is the small date and #53 being the large. Looking at both of them... I can see the difference. Hope that helped.  :)

As a youngster, I like to find NZ pre-decimal and foreign coins that had made It's way into circulated coinage.

The thought of holding a object of the past with it's hidden history really intrigued me as a youngster...and still does.
I'm not sure but according to Krause it looks like the difference lies in the height of the date numerals on the obverse but I imagine it will be very difficult to tell which is which without having them next to each other :.

Thank you both, lysdexic and radrick. I have a 1905 which must be KM 53 and the date on that is larger than my 1903, therefore, the 1903 must be KM 49.
