Northern Indian coin identification

Hi all,

Let's post on the English forum since this is were, I guess I'll find most specialists of Indian coins.

I think my coin is from Indian Northern dinasties (Gadhaiya) and could be https://fr.numista.com/catalogue/pieces38271.html or https://fr.numista.com/catalogue/pieces272540.html. But I hardly see (except the metal) the difference between them.

Obverse:

Reverse:

(The coin looks lighter; I guess the photo is a little bit underexposed).

And here is some data about the coin:
  • Metal: looks like silver but could be billon
  • Mass: 4.43 g
  • Diameter: between 14.3 and 15 mm since the coin is not perfectly round
  • Thickness: 4.12 mm

As said, the coin looks like the two specimen I've indicated since I have read somewhere else that the dyes are larger than the planchet, thus it is not uncommun to see only a part of the design (for instance, on the reverse, the right side of the altar is not seen).

Any guess?
The Gadhaiya paisa has a lengthy history with many variations. The examples you cite are pretty close to yours.

Here's an article on the long evolution of the Gadhaiya paisa. You may be able to match yours somewhere in this series.

Many thanks. The article, for which you gave me the link, is pretty detailed.

I'll read it thoroughly.
