I have the same. Every fourth or so page i open I get the site unavailable notification.
I guess it is due to Xavier implementing some things on numista at the moment and then it can result in some hickups for Numista.

The issue with pictures is probably unrelated. Are you talking about the page "Manage my picture storage"? How many pictures do you have?
Probably the page gets too big for people with many pictures.
