Obtained the following banknote in an exchange but listed as P-106b, but the signatures are not the same.
Signatures are of Carolyn A. Wilkins and Tiff Macklem

I have ascertained it is not P-106a, P-106b or P-106c, so I am now at a loss

Help would be much appreciated

That was a super quick reply.
It stated under the banknote, that it is not is the catalogue. Which catalogue does it refer too, as it is obviously listed on your link.

Thanks for your help

Geoff

I assume Standard Catalog of World Paper Money. They have the same thing shown for the $50 banknote P109[c]although Numista shows it as P109c.
It seems strange that it has a catalogue number when it is not in the standard catalogue, so who issues the number for new banknotes?

That's all I know. I don't have the catalog so I can't verify one way or the other.

The bank note museum has logically labelled this Bank of Canada (BOC) $5.00 as P-106d simply because it is the most recent signature change-over to appear (Wilkins-Macklem) on this denomination, & as such, should get a new letter (since its a new variation). P-106d won't be entered in Numista since it hasn't likely caught up to the new info.

Also, keep an eye out for "Lane-Macklem" signature combination for the $50 (P-109d) which is quite novel since Timothy Lane (Board of Directors) signature appears on the most recent $50. I don't ever recall a Board of Director acting as a substitute for the Senior Deputy Governor but since Carolyn Rogers doesn't start till December it presents a very unique & odd scenario at BOC.

The change-over (to Wilkins-Macklem) is supposed to occur on the IND prefix for the $5 at about 8.9M. Check your serial number as that's the "business end" of any BOC note.

When a new design occurs (which is expected soon) then most sites will list these as "P-New" simply b/c the SCWPM has been out of commission for a while. Many sites, including the bank note museum (& any other site whose been tracking these changes besides the banknote book) will list new designs as "P-New."

I do not keep my banknote collection on Numista, which I keep strictly for coins.
I added banknote question to forum for other collectors information.
