low serial number

I have a canadian 5 dollars with the serial number 0004008. would this be considered a low serial number.

​No: only serial numbers below 1000 are considered low numbers (at least here in Canada).

However, having said that, it is a nice number (lots of 0's) & if the note in question is in Extra Fine (or better) condition, I'd probably keep it.

As per an article of PMG, low serials are considered as 000001-000009, which means single digit after zeros.
I think that what qualifies as a low serial number depends on the size of the issue.
I would regard any number below 000100 as a low serial number on an issue with up to 1000000 notes per prefix.
