Hi users of Numista

I think that a option in the catalogue area to sort images (obverse reverse of a coin, note, Exonumia) by source for example mint sites (eg RCM) or a Numista members name (eg me) etc because there is many good things that will come from it.

I know we’ve got a similar feature in my collection but for people with large collections it might not be as useful compared to other people and sometimes it doesn't work.

Recently there has been treads about rival sites using pictures of coins and notes etc without Numista nor the members permission but if this feature is implemented a member can sort the catalogue by his/hers images and to keep track of where the images are.

For example there is a box where you can search the source name.

Next it shows how many results with that particular source.
Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.
It would also allow me to find what my 20 added pages are, I only remember a few.

Sorry for the late response but that would one of the advantages of this feature gets implemented.

Also if there was pictures from a source that we aren't allowed to use such as ones from the RCM etc those would get filtered out so anyone can change the source to scans from a approved site or their own photos if they own the coin, banknote or Exonumia.

One thing I missed is that there should be a one for the uncredited photos in the catalogue to help the image sorting due to users leaving photos uncredited due to many reasons which won’t be discussed.

My opinion is still, that all my contributions to our hobby, are open to EVERYBODY, whether from numista or not!

I want to contribute to OUR hobby as a whole.

I'm not married to numista! I'm a free man and when I'm not here any longer my knowledge and contributions should still be for eveybody enjoying collecting coins. What can be more noble?

To say that what I know, shouldn't be reused is completely against the spreading of knowledge, please don't learn by your predessessors, let's all stay in the dark.

I've said enough, I think? Or I didn't understand the theme.

Hmmmm yes and no.

I do agree that contributions is important and that it should educate newbies on Numismatics as a whole but in this case the main topic is about sorting images (obverse, reverse photos) by source for example Royal mint or a Numista member for example me.

This is not to take away any current features or cause finger pointing at who’s the worst coin photographer. No it’s to counteract the rival coin sites who steal photos from here and post it on their site claiming it to be theirs.

Also when a new coin, banknote or token is added to this site sometimes a user uploads pictures of the item from sites without permission either accidentally or intentionally. Most of the time referees notice this and rejects it but from time to time some sneak through onto the catalogue. Finally if a coin does not have a image for whatever reasons that feature would filter those out as well either for someone to add them or anything similar to that.

I forgot to mention that this feature (if it’s implemented) would hopefully be able to filter the coins without pictures so someone can add it if they own the coin, banknote or token and what to contribute how people identify the item in question.

For coins :

Banknotes 752
Exonumia 1631
TOTAL 31436

When one or both photos are added after creation, they can only be found by chance or by browsing the entire catalog

Thanks I didn’t know that.:°

Anyway the topic is still open for debate.

I’ve remembered that and from time to time I’ve added several photos of new coins, notes etc. also sorting duplicates has been a more recent thing for me.
