I have acquired this 500 Ruble Note issued by Russian Empire in 1912. Although this note has a real feel if you touch by hand and under microscope also it looks very very authentic, yet I noticed a faint series of lines below Serial Number, which leads me to doubt the authenticity of the note. I believe that the Note-Counterfeiter has used some sort of hand stamp, or Block Printing to put Serial Number on it. Watermark is perfect.
Can you please tell whether this note is authentic or not?
Thanks a lot Rsirian1. Yes now I know for sure that this note is genuine. Maybe during production process some notes did get slight variations like this.
This note is widely available. I don't think it makes much financial sense to counterfeit this banknote. Fakers prefer counterfeiting older banknotes of 19th century and of the early Soviet Union (20-30s of the 20th century).
Thanks a lot RmCoins. Yes you are right, On EBay also the Banknotes from these eras (19th century and early Soviet) are plenty. So perhaps maybe they are fakes.
