Please help! I have successfully identified 9 very old chinese coins - it has taken over a week of research.
The FINAL coin remains elusive, I just cannot find it on the web. Believe based on mint mark it is from theBoo-Cuwan Chengtu Szechuan mint. It is a struck brass coin; not a cast brass CASH coin. Can anyone help?

Hey 910beach, I have very limited knowledge of old Chinese coins but I know the obverse says "道光通宝", or "Dao Guang Tong Bao", meaning it was minted under the reign of Emperor Daoguang (1820-1850).
Well *OK* and thanks to the Numista team for zeroing in on the TRUTH! I suspected as such, since it was thinner than normal vintage cash coin. In any case, I did learn a bit about identification of China coinage....
Best regards to all you "smart ones" out there.

Quote: fliegendehollanderSomeone thinks we could do with a Numisdoc article on identifying fake cash coins?
I'd like to do that.
Maybe someone could send me their fake Chinese coins so I can take photos of 'em and crop them for the Numisdoc. I've got fake coins myself, including some obvious and not obvious copies for both cast and machine-struck.
Maybe around November when fall break comes around I'll write the Numisdoc for you guys.
