Just a odd 1978 D US 1 cent. The D is at 15 degrees not Stright

just going through some coins. I think the mint worker who punched in the D was a little tipped to. Just goes to show how US mint marks were all over the place.

Well now i have glasses. Iam getting old.

We're all getting older, but the mint marks are all over the place anyway, it's just easier to see that with the proper glasses in front of your ocular organs. Don't forget to put more lumens as well, since said eyes also seem to reduce the light every year....

the mint mark was hand applied at the mint, on each obverse die.
Each set of dies produced about 100,000 pieces.
if the issue was 5,500,000,000,
there are 5500 different mint mark placements of that date.

Oh i know At that time mint marks could be any were. I just like this one because it is tipped. Just something different. And to show how bad their locations are. If my memory is right i think someone found one side ways.

Yes i find it fun. The two that came to mind is the US 1970 S nickel. and the US 1979 P dollar. The 1970 S nickel is everywhere. I think i have 9 different locations easy to see.
