Hi. Thanks for having me at this forum!

I have found this today in the Czech Republic.

It weighs 1.6-1.7g. Fairly thin. Silver. I’m suspecting it is medieval based on the location it was found and the history of the area dating back to this time, plus the lettering style also speaks medieval to me.

I have no idea what this is and would love to know a date, what it is, and ideally a valuation.

I did consider it could be an early Hapsburg. I’m far from an expert, but I thought I’d add that detail, in case it helps in narrowing this down. I also considered if this was a smaller denomination of a prazky groschen.

thank you for any input.

Jansen.

That shield on second picture I have seen before but cannot remember where from.
The first picture has GROSSUS lettering. What is the diameter?

That page has some lettering wrong -
MARTINIS L5 should be MARTINIS 76 maybe (for the 1476 date).
Something like MARCHISA 8*6 lettering for yours, making it 1486 date.

Hi Zac. Thank you for the input. Really appreciate it.

my mother in law just sent me some info. It seems to be a spitzgroschen.

Are you Zac? Or anyone? able to tell me the value of this coin?

thank you very much.

Also it is 22mm approximately
Thank you for your time and effort Zac!

I think I’ll start a new thread regarding the valuation, as we now know the identity.

cheers!

Well, valuation is still alright to leave on this topic.
Not sure identification is yet made, though similar.
Looking for exact lettering match still - to that end I made these >

May be this (partial) lettering >

E W A D G DVCS S .... HA HIS + // GROSSVS NO..... ARC...IS 78 +
with the strangest 7 I have ever seen. So 1478 dated.

Still not sure of a few letters, especially H or M >

· Obverse: Shield (Balkenschild / Rautenkranzschild)

· Reverse: Shield of Landsberg (Pfahlschild) in trefoil
GROSSVS NOVVS HARCH MIS 78 +
· Catalogues: Krug 1510; Levinson I-148
· Weight: 1.531 gr
· Spitzgroschen - Leipzig

It would help to know what (some of) the lettering is abbreviations for.
