Hello numista members
There is this coin: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces15758.html Circulating silver commemorative Austro-Hungarian 1 korona from 1896. Like any other coin, this coin's price also rised up in the last 1-1,5 year in Hungary (because it become trendy, inflation, covid, etc.) According to the latest Adamovszky-catalogue (2020) the coin's value is around 50 euro max - (In Hungarian fb groups I saw a few pieces in the last few weeks to sold around this price). But my question is not even about the coin, but I considered worth to mention.
When they released the coin in 1896, they released the coin with a gift box in several colors, but the exact amount is unknown-see image below:
-Anyway this concrete box with a coin was 130 eur a few month ago, but in the last few month this box's price seriously jumped up, the sellers asked 5-600 euro, for example in the last week I saw that somebody made a bid 1000 euro for a box like this, without a coin, just the box :D I'm just curious do you see similar stories in your country? What do you think, this is just an artifical overpricing, or there is a lot of people who has saved money and they think this is a good investment? Thank you for your answers :)

I just picked up one coin with a original box 2 days ago for $ 200

Just another Hungarian

Why was it sold in a concrete box?

I have already written on this topic that silver-gold prices have skyrocketed for Coins. It had an even bigger impact on me. Why?

Those who drive consistently and slowly adapt their thinking to new prices.

Due to illness before Covid, I had a longer break from the stock exchange - the online sales exchange.

After re-engaging in shopping, I was unwilling to accept higher prices than I was used to.

I still tend to see the correct-responsible pre-Covid price.

For me it's not a question of price, how much I'll pay, for me it's a question of principle. My head just won't let me do it for reasons of honor and justice, I won't give it and that's it!
