Hi, does anyone know a good place to buy coins? Mostly unusual or not of current circulation? I am in Mexico and the coins here are quite expensive, and people will try to sell you cheap coins for lots of money.
eBay bar none.. All it takes is a simple spelling mistake and the coin goes un-noticed leading to a 1st bid win or when the seller doesn't know what it is and sells it as an unknown coin. My most recent case of this was an Egypt 2 pisteres won it for 99p with free p&p and another from the same seller entitled "a lovely shilling" which turned out to be a late 1800's Victoria shilling in VF condition for £1.47 recently. I also came across a coin listed as a Ceylon 5 cents which turned out to be an Ionian islands 2 lepta in VF which sold for £3.45 posted which in my opinion is a bargain, but I already have one so didn't bid..
There are some online coin shops that I use that sell at reasonable prices. Like I bought a VF Gibraltar 1 quart for £8 that in his opinion was only F, he is also reasonable for his prices altogether except for some coins when I mentioned that the Gibraltar quart was under valued upon buying he declared "I buy bulk lots of coins and I like to have a quick turn over so sell them lower to make a smaller profit and make more business"
Hello yes I guess Ebay would be the best choice to buy or sell your coins. The only other site that has a decent amount of coins to sell is http://www.ma-shops.com/ but im not sure if they also sell the coins to Mexico.
