I really want to bring some order to the Mexico banknotes so I'm trying to understand better what all the fields mean.
Title - How much information goes here? Should it be just the denomination and the currency? I see some that put in extra information about the series or who issued it. If I took it upon myself to “clean up” some of this, what would be appropriate to keep, and what to remove?
Issuing Authority - Is this whoever authorized the notes to be printed? For Mexico this is either “Mexico” or a few of the states that issued currency (but not all of them) under “Mexico - Revolutionary.”
Ruling Authority - In the case of Mexico, I don't understand this one. Is it a hold over from the coins? One option under the issuing authority of “Mexico” is “United Mexican States (1905-date).” The issue is the “United Mexican States” have been a thing since the Constitution of 1824 so it doesn't make sense to use it only there. The other issue I have is that the government of Mexico collapsed in 1913 with the assassination of Francisco Madero and a new government/constitution wasn't established until 1917. Given all that, is “Ruling authority” supposed to be the government or constitution that prevailed at the time?
Issuing Bank - Is this the bank (public or private) that put their name on the note?
Issuing Entity - I'm not sure how this is different from “Issuing Bank”? Is this a hold over from coin pages as well?
Type - What's the difference between a Standard banknote and a Local one? Is it just the scope of where it can be spent?
Thanks in advance for any clarification you can offer!
