Japan 100 Yen Banknote

Hi all,

I am relatively new to banknotes having previously focused on collecting coins the last 10 years but I’m hoping someone here could help me please.

picked up this Japanese 100 Yen note as I liked the design but there are no serial numbers? Please can someone explain why / what note this is?

Thanks in advance!

The 100 yen note you show was used to pay army personnel during WWII.  There were no serial or block numbers.  You know it by the red kanji characters and the strike out of the black kanji characters.  Otherwise it looks like a regular issue note.

fairfield

Thank you! Much appreciated.

Indeed this is a military note of the “China Japanese Incident” like they call it. You should find it under China.
