Help Grade this French 1916's 20 Francs.

Hi,
I'm needing help to grade this one. would it be G4, G6 or VG8?
Any idea of value?
thank you
Júlio

Although low grade, the note is intact with no pieces missing. This puts it into the VG region, imo.

I would put it around Good 6 according to PMG's Grading Scale due to the multiple edge tears & splits along the horizontal centre fold.

“Good 6” from PMG describes:

the note is very worn with serious splits, fraying of the margins and damage.

There's a rust mark, stained lower right corner & other issues on the reverse that are considered damage.

Here's a seller on eBay asking $45 USD for his VG.  What it's worth is what collectors are willing to pay for it (so only an auction with a 99 cent start will tell).

- I suppose you could call it a “fair price” if you absolutely must have a damaged example of that note.  To me, Buy It Now (BIN) is a lot like the prices seen at flea markets or coin shops. (Esp the VG example I provided on eBay).  Most BIN are not terribly over-priced but typically, BIN notes are somewhat over priced (usually a small profit is involved).  I would not doubt that the note in better condition would come much cheaper (relatively speaking) if it were offered in a true auction style listing (& especially if offered next to better French notes of that era).

(I have several notes I bought 25 years ago that I might break even now, if I were to sell, since I bought them at coin shops & they were over graded/over priced. Lack of patience is incredibly expensive in this hobby).
