I am currently working on adding coins and missing information to the Philippines part of the catalogue. The problem I encountered was with the countermarked coins. There are over 100 coins most of them not on Numista. I can use the description of the host coin if I can't find any photos of the countermarked one. These coins are pretty rare and most of them will be added without a picture. The countermark sometimes covers parts of the legend of the host coin but not entirely. Coins of the same type will have different placed countermarks and the part of the host coin legend that remains will be different or gone entirely. My question is, do we add the host coin legend in the lettering field even though is not visible, or only what you can clearly see? Considering that the lettering will not be accurate for every owner of one of these coins.
The same question goes for the description of the coin. As you can see in the example below, the description of the host has nothing to do with the countermarked one. But as I said before for another example of this coin the countermarked may not cover all of the host.
