Why put off until next year what you can do today! Lol

The same will be with Australia on September 1st as announced by RAM (2023 Lunar Chinese calendar series of coins). I remember that some years ago it started in November but since 2-3 years, they start already in Septemebr… and Canada even in August…

On the other hand, Canada issue the series “Gift set” like Birthday, Baby, Wedding and they starts to sell it beggining January but this is always too late to receive it for my birthday. This kind of products could be avaliable month before in my opinion, but is not.

They are going to look stupid if the Queen dies before the year is out.

Australia has been rush releasing some of its “Bubblegum” coins months in advance.

Serious circulation coins usually show up in the year they are dated, except in New Zealand where they show up 2 or 3 years later.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Which “Bubblegum” coins are they Moneytane? Please elaborate.

I don't know yet. I stole the word off a CCF thread from someone who referred to the 2022 Australian Commonwealth Games set of coins as Bubblegum coins and its become my new fun statement.

I based it too on my 2022 Uncirculated set of coins released in November 2021, yet dated 2022 - so that is where it comes from. I mean I like them and all, but annual sets of Alphabet dollars, $2 coins celebrating Mr Squiggle and the Wiggles, cartoon anime animals for the Olympics are getting “bubblegum” won't you agree?

Possibly you could call them Bubblegum coins if you want but they are going into circulation and they are valid usable coins. As to rush releasing them I think you are wrong there. They are released at appropriate times with the correct year on them.

Mr Squiggle coins were released in 2019 with a 2019 Date, The Wiggles coins were released in 2021 with a 2021 Date.

The Aussie Post Alphabet coins were all dated in the years they were released.

The good thing about them all is they get younger people interested in collecting coins and they can get them out of circulation.

What a pity that New Zealand has bugger all to compete with it.

The Annual Mint and Proof Sets are always issued in November for the following year so that they can be  bought in advance of Christmas to be given as presents. I wouldn't call that rush releasing them.

The coin collecting hobby in Australia is alive and kicking. How is it in the Hobbit country? 😏

Absolutely terrible, our communist government is anti coins, they would rather print up piles of worthless pesos and throw them away into stupid causes.

Shops tried to ban cash money during the Covid era, despite it being illegal, nothing was done. Even now our newest circulation coins are 2020 dated 10 and 20c coins, the others are limited to 2019. None of our currency is made here with dollar denominations in Wales and cents in Canada, notes are printed by you Lamington thieves.

The only commems were 2 x 50 cent pieces that quickly disappeared into speculators and trade me auctions.

All our other commems are wildly overpriced silver and gold ounce coins that cost like $150 for silver and $4k plus for gold.

You guys are better with them circulating, you also have a much larger population and a national mint. You are also not strangled by woke socialism, angry minorities, endless rainstorms, political disarray and more red tape than Eastern Bloc countries in the 1960s. But even I agree endless coin issues for Alphabets and Honey Bees along with silly Australian TV shows barely known outside Australia (Except the Wiggles), is overkill.

The true ideal situation sits somewhere in the middle. A few tasteful circulating commems is fine, but leave the Kiddie shows and bees for the stamps.

Wow . . You got a lot of your chest then Moneytane. I understand how you feel though believe me. I also am sick of all the Woke socialism etc etc …  but I think you Kiwi's have got it a lot worse than us Aussies. Coin collecting is what distracts me from all that BS which I try to ignore.

And guess what, Aussie Post and the RAM are about to release another set of what you would call Bubblegum coins haha.

Good day brismike

I recently joined this forum and noticed that you are the person in charge of Australian coins,

My question would be how to get to these posts, or rather how to get status as 'one in charge of a country'.

Since I am very interested in numismatics, I would love to be able to change errors in the Soviet catalog.

Thank you very much

Yours sincerely Goldcollector.

P.S. This message was written in a hurry, so it may sound harsh.

Thanks - I am glad you saw my point of view. I was worried I was heading down another rabbit hole.

At the end of the day, they will end up in my collection like all the other $1 and $2 releases they do.

Here in PNG, we've only gotten one circulation coin in 2021 (50 toea) and the other coins haven't been in for a while, the latest one kinas I've seen are 2010. Although I don't think they're all released into public at once, otherwise, I think they'd all end up in the bigger cities like Lae, Moresby, Hagen, and Goroka because people love Twisties (the good version of Cheetos) and Coke. Maybe some in Kainantu as well. Some 2010 one kinas I've gotten are in mint condition. Although there could be some later coins I just haven't seen yet.

And, unfortunatelly, we have this case… Queen Elizabeth II passed away yesterday.

Also UK issued 2023 Year of Rabbit 5 Pounds earlier this week.

Will it be second version of series 2023 Year of Rabbit, with the same reverses but with King Charles on obverse? I guess this is possible.
