5 francs 1855A - grand module?

9 posts • viewed 174 times

Can someone give his opinion to evaluate this coin by the photo.

Is there any doubt that it is a fake?
Diameter 16.7mm.
Thickness and weight match the catalog's.

Is this coin a type of 1855A grand module (mintage only 1 346,Rare - KM# 787.1) or just perfect fake?

And if it's not fake approximately grade by yours view.

Thank's a lot!

It seems, you really are not an expert…. so please don't answer to serious requests. “doesn't exist” 😜

In other catalogs it also exist, but not in all. By example in Krause cannot find, but I have edition of 2014, may be this is the reason.

Found here:

Same as in Gold Coins of the World 9th edition, Friedberg - page 286, item 578a.

Looks like a nice gold coin.

If there's such a thing as a “perfect fake,” how would one even differentiate it?

In the 7th and 8th edition they do appear. I have thrown out all my paper catalogs and now use the digital versions.
