Do you know which coin this is?

5 Reichsmark (Rhineland) - Germany - 1871-1948 – Numista but either your scales are far off or the “coin” is some cheap metal replica.

A miniature replica …

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

Hello to all of you!

The design is of the 5 Reichs Mark coin, silver 500/1000,25g.,struck starting 1925 (for several years) in the Weimar Republic of Germany. So:

1) There is an error on the Numista cat.(at the provided link for ''miniature'' coin) about the name of the country that issued the original coin,at the time of minting the type! The Federal Republic of Germany was settled after the end of WWII (many years later).

2) These ''miniature coins'' of base metal(s),like iron,I don't know for what purpose they were struck & exactly when, but for sure they had NEVER monetary circulation power of a 5 Mark real coin (or even less,I believe).

3) They have today (as said in Numista cat.) the status of tokens(for Exonumia) or souvenir ''medal'' replicas.

1)  There is no error. If you look closely you'll see it doesn't say issuing country but location where they were made (by a private company).

2) The purpose is obvious.  They are Souvenir medals/Tourist tokens. No one would actually think they had “monetary circulation power of a 5 Mark real coin.”

3) Correct as already stated above.

Hello! Thanks,rsirian1,for your clarification for all of us! That's OK,with ''location'' other than ''issuer''. 👍

P.S.: A little comment would be that a wealthy country like F.R.G. should have managed to struck ''souvenir miniature medals'' in more proper & nicer metals (not the ‘’ugly'' iron,etc.). My humble opinion!

Happy new year with health & joy!

I rather doubt the Federal Republic of Germany had anything to do with making these tokens.
