I'm wondering if we got a little bit ahead of the horse.
I purchased a Proof Set at the local antique market a few years ago, which I just found. I haven't looked at in years! Oh it's Proof, you can't mistake that matte finish with the mirror fields. I have found examples of the exact case less the “lion” packaging. I call this “tourist” packaging.
Here is my issue. Numista has a line for a BU Set, which I can't find anywhere and I see we have no mintage figures.
Anyone have any clues?
BTW, this is an excellent learning tool for all collectors out there. You would think a Proof Set (mintage 1563) is worth “big” dollars. Sorry to burst your bubble, but no one is willing to buy these 7 coins at an elevated level. I'll leave it for my children as an excellent depiction of Proof coins.
