My suggestion for a list of ruling authorities to Martinique. There are overlaps and the coins may not fit neatly into a single of these rulers. But hopefully it can be used for a start :)

Kingdom of France - House of Bourbon:

- Louis XV (1715-1774)

British Occupation (1762-1763)

Kingdom of France - House of Bourbon:
- Louis XVI (1774-1792)

Modern France
First Republic (1792-1804)

Napoleon I (1804-1814, 1815)

Napoleon III (1852-1870)
Third Republic (1870-1940)

Jarcek

Added different rulers for coins and banknotes.

What should be the date range for British occupation?

Thank you :)

I looked and added some of the rulers to most coins and banknotes and noticed that there are 2 banknotes in the current catalog which don't fit in. They have the year 1942

N#259312

N#297227

There is also a gab between 1802 to 1804 for some coins, like this: N#317153

I also will say the british occupation stopping in 1802 sounds fine. But there was also a second occupation from 1809 to 1814. But don't know if it's relevant?

The 13 of February 1762 France lost Martinique to UK.

The 10 of February 1763 thanks to the Traité de Paris, France gain back the territory.

Then from 1794 to 1802 UK took control back on the territory.

From 1802 to 1809 France have full contrôle on Martinique.

Then from 1809 to 30 of Mai 1814 it officially belong to UK but they finally evacuated the island the 2 of December 1814.

After that the 1st of march 1815 to the 8th of July 1815 UK take control of Martinique as allied of France.

Finally Martinique is French until today since the 09 of July 1815.

Always look on the bright side of life!

I also see now there are banknotes issued between 1815 and 1870, which doesn't have a ruling authority fitting in the catalog.

For what I can see here for instance it should just be Napoleon III

But for the other notes issued in for instance 1942, it could be "Provisional Goverment"..?
