Why are these so expensive :( I need one for my collection.
High grades of these coins are very difficult to get hold of! I guess that is why...and the limited date period.
Yeah I guess.. :(
They are about the same price as the George IV ones too but then I got one of those for 99p so I'll wait and see what comes up - if not I'll get one in Feb. ;)
:wiz:  :8D I am really gearing up for a good show! I'm saving my pennies and pounds!
Same :) although my progress may be a bit slower ha ! I'm sure even if I took £50 I would have a good time and maybe pick up a few cheaper ones !
Most of the Swiss Rappen for 25p each have my name on them! Anyone else want to come?
Where & when please.
thanks

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
Silver coins from William IV seem to be more common over here than the lower denominations.  I've already picked up a half crown and shilling for pretty low prices, now I've got my eye on a sixpence with a reserve of NZ$9.00 (about 4 pounds 50p or US$8)  I've not seen many copper coins around with him on them.
I have a 1837 farthing in VG+, is that of value? (I picked it up for 5p UK).

What do you think?

It's like buying a F- 1/4 cent from the Straits. It's a poor-conditioned coin, but it's really rare.

It's worth more than 5p !

Which Straits 1/4c are you referring to Kenny ? I have the E.I.C. 1/4, but need the 1/4 fractional Straits Settlements one AND the 1/4 cent India Straits 1862 then I will have all 3 types. I missed out on a 1/4 a few months back - I almost got carried away, bid £5 and was about to bid again, pulled it, and it sold for £10 plus postage. Glad I didn't bother though - I will get one cheaper than that and in a better grade one day ha !

Aha all of them.

Any Straits fractional cents, let alone 1 cent coins themselves, are really expensive and hard to find. So are Edwardian 1 cents, which are less common than Victorian cents.

I think the reason why they are so rare is 'cause when Japan flew over to Malaya and the Straits, we melted all the copper coins, which explains why there are little to no George VI cents from Hong Kong.

Nice Straits 1ct Victoria coins you have, that will be my next acquisition ?

Thanks I guess, if you're talking about my cent coins.

Copper Asian coins are pretty scarce.

I usually can pick up the 1862 India straits 1 cent In VF or above for around £1 each, I've just left a few but I won one to populate my swap list but it went immediately so I'm gunna keep my eyes peeled for more in the future
I got the 1/4 Anna 1862 British India from a swap here, but its in VG condition...
I think the only 1862 British India coins I have are the 1 rupee and the 1/2 Anna. 1862s variety are Victoria queen aren't they ? That's why I've listed my would likes in that other thread as the Victoria empress rupee and its fractions
Yeah I think my quarter rupee is 1862.  I tried to buy 4 1/4 annas off a guy.  Unfortunately he got robbed after I had bought them and one of the things the thieves took was the box he was storing the coins I had bought.  He sent me the 1/4 rupee instead.  I was pretty happy with the deal.
Whenever I run out of credits somebody lists a really great coin :(

Non illegitimis carborundum est.  Excellent advice for all coins.

Are they really that rare ? I picked up the E.I.C. ones very easily, for cheap too - I still need the 1/4 of the two other varieties to complete those sets !
Hey guys, how much is it for a set of regal (Indian) set from 1/12 anna to silver rupee?

Thanks in advance. Tigs
