Building an app for coin collectors. Looking for feedback.

Hello everyone! I'm Art, a hobbyist-numismatist who also works full-time in IT. My journey into the world of coin collecting was largely influenced by my dad, who's a skilled coin restorer. Today, I'm excited to share a project that's been brewing in my mind for quite some time...

Disclaimer:  I'm genuinely seeking feedback from coin collectors and numismatists, and not trying to sell anything (because there's just nothing to sell yet haha)

In a nutshell, I'm currently in the process of working out an idea for my new app. Just recently, I took the plunge and launched a website to provide an overview of its features – you can take a look it out at https://coinlectic.com

My biggest goal right now is to get your insights and opinions on Coinlectic.

I want to understand what potential users might think about my app, ascertain the value it can bring to the coin-collecting community, and help me determine if any app adjustments or pivots are necessary. Your thoughts, no matter how big or small, would be immensely appreciated.

P/S: If you want to see a prototype of the app, we can schedule a 20-30-min meeting to talk about it in depth. That actually be ideal! So, if you decide to do that, I'd be happy to give you a free one-year access to the app once I release it.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this, and hope you hear back from you!

Thank you everyone in advance!

Just a quick update for everyone! Here are my findings so far:

1. There's definitely interest. I've got around 200 unique visitors to my website just by posting to 3 forums and a couple of subreddits.

2. The problem (lack of awareness behind coin sales you follow) is kind of 50/50. Some see a real use for it and encourage me with additional insights and problems, and some say – “this is not a real problem, why not just use a calendar and reminders app on your phone”

3. Collectors share a ton of other problems in the space, which mainly are

  • “What is it?” (Coin identification)
  • Difficult to find provenance
  • Lack of a centralized control center to manage your collections, auction-related documents, consignment planning, etc

What do you all think about this?

Hello!

I think this looks promising. Maybe we could find a way how you could connect auctioned coins with Numista pages for users? They could see in-app if they have the coin or already have page on their disposal if they bought the coin.
