S.Korea - 1000 KRW - 2007 different versions?

Hi,

in the Numista catalogue, there is only one version of the 2007 issue of 1000 KRW and apparently not printed anymore since then

N#201806

I recently received two notes from a friend who traveled to Korea a few years ago and one of them is clearly different.

I compared the two to one I already had and at plain sight the notes appear identical.  All have the watermarks, security threads and color-shifting numbers and but under uv light (365nm) one them has clearly different paper coloration; microfibers do appear under UV in all three as well but the temple and flowers designs does not in one of them.

So, I am wondering if I have found a new note that could be added to the catalogue or whether it's more likely a counterfit.

Your kind comments are appreciated.

Looks like the forgers had everything but the right paper or it was washed with something like detergent that is fluorescent.

😭

I can't say anything for sure, I don't have it in front of me but that is the exact use of UV light to quickly check if the paper is glowing strong and probably fake. And North Korea and China are the best banknote forgers and right around the block (but I don't know why they wouldn't use the right paper though).

This happens when a banknote gets wet.

That is really a low value to be forged.  I think the explanation could be being wet or washed.
