Hello ,

I have seen this note

N#362944

And in the catalogue it is marked as issued in 2022 under Elizabeth the Second

However , the CIMA website article announcing the issuance of the note is dated to the 12th October 2023  .

In the article it specifically states that the note is a double ( triple even ) commemorative - 70 Years Reign of the Queen , 1 year since her passing and 40 years since her visit o the Islands .

Here is the article -

With this in mind I would like to request that the year of issue of  the note to be changed to 2023 and the monarch to be changed to Charles  the Third .

Why the note says issued in 2022?

The note is actually dated 2022 on the note itself.

What may have happened is that the ballot was printed in 2022, as part of the celebrations of ERII's 70th anniversary. However, for reasons that (theoretically) we do not know, the banknote only entered circulation in 2023.

This happens with several other banknotes around the world. The year stamped is not necessarily the same as the year it began circulation. Brazilian Real banknotes are a great example of this, dating from 2010 and still in production today. =)

I believe that 2022 should, in fact, be the year considered for registration here at Numista.

Generally, when banknotes bear a date of issue or a series year, it is that date or year which is used in a numismatic catalogue, and not the actual date on which the notes entered circulation.

As “2022 Series” is printed on the note, I would consider 2022 to be correct as a year for this note.

Could it be that they made this during ERII reign and due to her passing/whatever, did not manage to enter this into circulation and decided to put it into circulation only in 2023 to “triple commemorate”? If so, then there would be no change, not even with rulling authority.

Indicate in the ‘Comments’ section - ‘Released in 2023’.

That would be a good addition, and solve the question nicely, imo.

Why not just follow the Guidelines?

If the year of issue is different to the year written in the note, record it in the Gregorian/Julian calendar using the “Change date” override feature:

You are right, I forgot this. I still believe comment is needed though.
