One of my other major hobbies is comic books.  I think there's a few of us on here.
Just wondering what everyone else is buying this week.

For me, it's:

Amazing Spider-Man 36
Captain Marvel 1 (1st appearance of the Omen and Yuna Yang)
Edenwood 1

Purr Evil 3
Something Is Killing The Children 34
Spawn 346

Most excited for Edenwood I think.  Just seems like a fun story.

Heh, I just bought a pile of old Donald Duck comics in an auction! Not sure if that counts though.

Absolutely!  Those old Disney comics are always fun to flip through.  I've got a few in my collection as well :)

Tomorrow the new Asterix #40 “The white Iris” is supposed to be in my letterbox!

Goscinny & Uderzo are one of my all time favourites for making Asterix. Each plate of drawing in the comics is filled with detail. Just awesome.

The White Iris was also a Star Trek episode.

Had to look it up.  Looks like a fun book.

A new Asterix book! Cool :)

I just looked up ‘the White Iris’ – I will add it to my collection. I have all the Asterix books in English – and some in French and in Finnish. I wouldn't say I collect them, but they were a great aid in learning a language, being available in many translations.

A friend of mine does collect them, in all the languages – some translations are quite rare.

Which are the rare languages?

A good question – I think Persian was one of the more difficult ones to obtain. Some of the more obscure languages were done in small production runs. There are dealers who buy and sell them!

I also have one book in Scots Gaelic, I spotted it in a bookshop in Glasgow a few years back.

I just had a look for ‘The white Iris’ on amazon, it's not out here until 2024.

I had pre-ordered the Asterix months ago, and today Amazon asked me to verify my payment method. The album will probably come tomorrow. Price 7.99 since ordered in advance! I can wait an extra day🥲

I had all of them in Danish, German, Spanish, French and English. Now they are all in Boston with my daughter. I still buy the latest (in French) for her XMas, so I can read it first here in Paris.

He has all of the unofficial Asterix book translations also!

As a kid I spent many hours at the library reading comics such as Asterix, Blueberry, Fritz the Cat and Tintin. The only thing related to comics that I collect are LP records with Tintin as audio drama. Some of them are quite difficult to find without scratches.
