I was going to quote Big Mac as the post was locked just to say that I hoped that she, you, and Québécois would stay on the site as regular members and contribute your knowledge on the forum, at least occasionally.

Free discussion has to obey forum policy https://en.numista.com/help/forum-policy-77.html as any other forum. My guess would be that moderator deemed it to be in breach of that.

Free discussion has to obey forum policy https://en.numista.com/help/forum-policy-77.html as any other forum. My guess would be that moderator deemed it to be in breach of that.

So which policy where violated ?

  1. Respect the members of the site by avoiding derogatory and upsetting messages, as well as non-constructive criticism. Be polite and courteous. Words like “hello” and “thank you” are highly welcome.
  2. Put specific titles. Avoid titles like “Help!” or titles that do not indicate the nature of the topic.
  3. Use a short title: do not include the content of your message in the title.
  4. Do not overuse capital letters, bold or any other layout which would make reading the forum harder.
  5. Without having to consider the forum as a literary corner, please do not write in SMS language, and avoid errors in English, which could affect the understanding of messages and the quality of the forum.
  6. Do not discuss your problems with other members via the forum.
  7. To respect the privacy of everyone, it is forbidden to disclose information or data that can identify a member; this includes, but is not limited to, the address of an individual, the name of another member, or the email of a member.
  8. Messages aiming at stating political or religious views or controversial historic interpretations are not authorized.
  9. Pornographic or erotic messages and pictures are not authorized.
  10. Purely commercial messages are not authorized.
  11. Sales or inducements to sell are prohibited. Promoting or indicating sales or purchases through forum signatures or member profile descriptions is also not permitted. One link redirecting to the personal profile of a member on an external selling platform is tolerated on the member's profile page through the dedicated field “Personal website”.
  12. The forum is divided into several sections. Please use the correct section according to the content of your post. A message posted in the wrong category will be moved by a moderator.

How should I know, I am not a moderator. Common sense would point at number 1 though.

Well i wrote to the moderator, wonder if he reply. If not it will only show that you are not transparent. Btw as you are higher then moderator could you tell me  what is non-constructive criticism. ? In my opinion there is no such thing as non-constructive criticism. the fact that something doesn't work is in itself because it allows it to happen. You don't have to immediately propose an alternative in order for something to be applied to it with

I am not higher than moderator really. If I go out of the line, I would like to be locked (and I was several times) or redacted or removed from the forum as anyone else.

I do not have anything to say about non-constructive criticism, as I said interpretation of that is in the moderators hands. Yes, I thought some of the comments were too much and it would deserve a lock to cool down, but moderator had to agree in the end.

According to https://en.numista.com/team.php  you are :)

Closing a topic is nothing more than censorship.

Closing a topic is nothing more than censorship.

Sure looks like it.

But I wonder if the moderator locked the topic because of Jarcek last message (rule 1 and 6) ? Catalog Admins should give the exemple even when they get emotional about some topics. If you had something to discuss with me, you should have come in private. Should you get fired or suspended for this ???  😉

Just joking…I forgive you your sins Saint-Jarcek 😅

Gentlemen,

I understand that some of us are complains to express. They might be based but this is not the appropriate place to express them.

We are all adults and such discussions do not have to take place.

DISCUSSIONS : Aren't these the exact purpose of a forum ?

Closing a topic you don't like the way you did is nothing more than censorship. You could have deleted Jarcek's message and leave the topic open.

Guys,

You are all long term members, experienced with the site, prolific and competent contributors.

If you have an issue to discuss, do it on the ref/mod forum untill you get it solved.

If you do not reach a consensus, escalate to the Admin.

If your wishes are not granted, accept it.

This is life.

Putting forward democracy, liberty, censorship is somewhere unworthy.

I lock the topic.
