Real or not? Not sure...

I'm interested in opinions - is this silver drachm real or not? It's uncertified and I don't know anything about its provenience. I got it from ebay.

w=5.64g

diam=16mm

Please let me know why you think it's either real or not - I'm trying to learn to identify coins. Thanks,

Hello, it comes from Moesia for Istros, the weight and diameter correspond, you can compare here

To learn how to identify fakes, look here, it's very interesting and well done

This is tough one to definitely say yes or no.

My concerns if buying a raw Drachm in your case would be too regular shape of coin for an antique, I dont know if someone was making edge more appealing, as well, tiny details on coins are off, for example lips on heads and bird head which are not equal to ones sold online. It could be due to wear on some coins and fact that antique coins can vary in looks of details more than modern coins with good quality control. As well your coins is quite off center.

Take a look on details sample Drachm from Numista catalog

Your coin is definitely hammered, not molded, and i would not argue that.

If you got this coin from reputable shop for a normal price, i would be relatively calm about coin being good.

Thank you cronos22 and xrp.
