Hi!
In Chile, the unit of currency is the Peso, in force since the time of Spanish colonization. In 1860, an Issuing Bank Law was passed, which allowed private banks to issue printed money valued in Chilean pesos, due to currency shortages, commercial interests and political situations.
In 1898 the private emission license expired, the Government supported the banknotes in circulation and assumed the legal issuances. In some cases, these banknotes were even reused by the government with the overprint "EMISSIÓN FISCAL" at the beginning of the 20th century.
Below are the private banks that issued bank notes (and that we already have registered here at Numista), for inclusion in the database of issuing entities (banks).
2. Banco de Ahorros y Préstamos
6. Banco Nacional de Chile (Q56650489)
8. Banco de Santiago (Q5718130)
9. Banco de Valparaíso (Q56650491)
In addition to the private banks above, we already have in the numista the register of the banknotes of the "Intendência de Valdivia", whose entity responsible for issuing the banknotes was the "Tesoreria y Aduana Unidas de Valdivia".
I also request the inclusion of this issuing entity.
Thank you in advance for your attention to this request!
Regards,
Vladimir
