Hello everybody. Could you add to the banknote catalog the group of issuers "Japanese Feudal Domains", with all the issuers together?

My request is based on looking at banknotes from issuer Japan already add in the Numista. The oldest banknotes right at the beginning of the Meiji Restoration and even before that are banknotes called Hansatsu, and they need the most attention.

Hansatsu banknotes were banknotes issued for use inside the domains during the Edo Period mainly. This paper money supplemented the coinage of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Most banknotes carried a face value in silver coins, but banknotes carried a face value in gold and copper were also circulated. Furthermore, some of them were marked for cash exchange for a commodity such as rice and fish.

We need to include these issuers in the Banknote Catalog, for a better organization of Japanese banknotes. Finally, I would really like to help the catalog grow further. I recently obtained a banknote from the Kishu Domain and would love to add it in Numista.

 Thank you all.

Yes, new issuers could be a good idea.

But please also search for a referee that is specialized in these issues and also can read classical Japanese for the older issues as well as cursive and maybe seal script Japanese.

These scrip are often in abysmal condition and just throwing them in the catalog with very little details on the pages, maybe not even knowing if the are monetary scrip and not rice or sake ones is sub optimal.

Personally, I am not very interested in  emergency money of any kind so I don't own any specialized catalogs which would be very helpful in this field. They are scarce and some quite expensive if you even can find them to buy or even rent. So this part of the catalog is very underdeveloped. With some still in the pipeline.

Should we revisit this suggestion now ?

Sak made a request for domain scrip (request) and wanted to take it on and I spoke to Jarcek to give him the refereeship over those notes but I don't know how far along that is or if it was ever started.

Thanks

I know, I just wanted to add them as context not for a notification.

Yes I requested this for a long time in referee forum and it's still in queue.

I don't own a catalog but can partially read cursive and seal script.

It could be faster if I could create/edit/manage issues, issuing entity, currencies, denominations in database, but I'm not in the team…

I wish I could have higher authority, possibly temporary, to arrange/fix messy things in Japan Catalog…
