is the Vladimir Gottwald portrait officially recognised as the 5th portrait? If it were an officially recognised it, they would have put it in the set surely. It reminds me of the Butler release in 2016 on UK coins that was not ever in circulation so was not recognised as one of the official portraits.

Yes it is considered the 5th Portrait on Australian coins. The Jody Clark one was designated the 6th one by the RAM when it was first issued in 2019.

The Vladimir Gottwald one was used on a Circulating 50 cent coin in 2000. It was also used on a $1 mob of roos coin in a set of all six portraits in 2019 called "Effigies Over Time".
