An extraordinary silver coin treasure from the late Viking Age has been discovered in Denmark.

Over 600 coins dating back about 1,000 years were found in a field near Ruds Vedby.

Of Danish, English and German origin, many of the coins were minted by Sweyn II and Cnut the Great – two of Denmark’s most powerful kings during the Viking period.

Imagine walking your dog one day and stumbling on a pile of 1000+ year old coins

oh to live in Europe…

Jokes aside, that’s awesome! Thanks for sharing

There was a couple that did exactly that, their dog dug up a pot of gold coins in California a few years back. I feel like it was an insane amount of value!

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

Looking for pre 1783 coins

Will the museum horde them forever,  or dump them into the market at action?

That would discover new prices for a lot of types, looks like.
