Greetings all,

I have noticed we have been using the terms “see through” and “look through” in some of our banknote listings.  I would not be surprised if we have several other synonyms being used for the term offset register.

I thought that offset register was the standard term.  In all my decades of collecting this is what I have known it as.

Should we endeavor to change our use here to a consistent offset register?

Thanks,

Benjamin

Never in my live I heard of this term but I am also not a dedicated banknote collector. But it is definitely not a universally understood term.

If we still had the Numisdoc this would be an idea for an article, the anatomy of a coin/banknote with termini.

Well…it is the industry term used by the imprints for this feature…I think it sounds a heck of a lot better then a look through and see through.   The term offset register actually describes the purpose of the counterfeit deterrent.
