Rust [solved]

Is cleaning the dirt on your coins a good descision, sorry for the wrong spell.

Your title say “rust” and your question says “dirt.”  Those are two completely different things.  Washing in mild soapy water usually will remove dirt without damaging the coin.  Removing rust is different. Perhaps with pictures of what you are trying to do would help.

but you typically want to remove dirt and also rust, but do it correctly. Don’t use a tooth brush or pad or anything that will effect the surface.
