Nice guys !! Here's another !

These three are my favorites that I currently have pictures of.

I could have a field day here, most pacific island coins have animals, fish or birds on them.  I'll see what I can hunt out
I was only doing ships originally Neil but I then thought of my Australian an pacific stuff and thought you might enjoy it !

I have tonnes of animal coins, ^here are some of the highlights

Why do you have a Kipling monkey off the women's handbags ? Lol
Quote: Mark240590Why do you have a Kipling monkey off the women's handbags ? Lol
^I don't know what that is, but the monkey was some sort of kinder-egg surprise (that my little sister got)
i'm hiding it from her to bug her as a big brother naturally should

and i guess it fits in with the animal theme  :D

It's a brand of handbag my girlfriend used to have they have story monkey on the side lol

I like to think of this as a poor man's version of any coin that features St. George slaying the dragon. Minus the dragon, of course.

SHOW OFF! ;)

I don't usually look for animals on coins, so, I guess this one...

This would have to be one of my favourite proof coins, with an animal on it...

Just for the female peacocks in the audience  0:)

I don't look for them but there's plenty ! Lol
I love the Papua New Guinea series so I'll post all that I have.  I've got all of them except the 50 toea

here is my favourite, the 1 Kina coin

The 20 toea

the 10 toea

5 toea

2 toea

You must thank me for the peace dollar!  :P
I have always loved the Lion on the Ten Pence.

I suppose the new design for the Ten Pence also has lions on, but I dont like the current British coin designs

I'm not that into the new coins the old ones were definitely better ! They should bring out some specific jock coins cos the thistle rules!!
I will upload more pics this evening before I embark upon my 3rd night shift in a row.. Shock to the system lol
This is I like most. It has captured the tropical environment of my area.

Cool !

I have the cent and the 5 cents. But no silver!  :(

I admit, I only care for the silver ones. The base metal ones are too modern to me.
can't believe nobody has put an Australian coin up here yet, so here goes.
tony you jammy sod.. a coin with 2 animals on !!!!

Are you talking about the Aussie 50 cent or the Krugerrand? They both have two animals, technically.

& probably the only coin with a Komodo dragon on it:

& probably the only coin with a Komodo dragon on it:
Very nice coins, I love the panther one. By the way there is other coins the Komodo Dragon on from Indonesia albeit not many.
The panther coin is an oval shaped Mongolian 2005 niobium and silver 500 tugrik.

The Komodo dragon coin is Indonesian.
The reverse:
I like it, what I'm looking for is any coins with scorpions on, but so far I only have one from Somaliland.

I never know what the difference between the word animal and creature is. Does creature include animals, so birds and fish and every living things is creatures, whereas animals are like cats and dogs and so on? Just not sure, as I have various coins with various creatures on ...

Token collector [1600-1899] with some coins
I think those five above are in the 2 Zloty series from Poland. I forgot to look on the other side. Three more for this thread - rather than say Owl on it this item says An Owl for some reason (again forgot to look on the other side but I think it is a coin from Korea). The second item is I know not a coin but is a medal from France, but at the top it has a she-wolf with Romulus and Remus. The third is another French medal and has chickens and cattle on it.

Very nice coin with the caretta on what exactly is it ? I would love one ! I have always loved turtles and tortoises but last year we went on holiday in Zante and saw some caretta caretta !

no one saided anything about my greenland bear [polar]
It is, what it is, or is it.

We could probably all post German coins with the eagle for a long time, but that would get very boring.

It's beautiful! You must be very lucky to get one of those, as they are very rare!

Yeah - I guess we are rather lucky here for getting Gibraltar, I.O.M., and Guernsey coins, and to the lesser extent St. Helena, the pound was in a bank roll I had to cash in - it's XF-aUNC too. :)

Actually my brother brought me a similar grade 2p coin the other day with a cyclist on; it was a sports on the Isle of Man one, never seen any before same as the I.O.M. Xmas 50p I got. :) I don't suppose it's the same for you lot over there so much - maybe the odd Canadian coin I would guess ?
Is it possible in the UK to ask a bank employee if he could change a One Pound coin into 100 pennies, or a Two Pounds coin into 2 p's at a bank?
"For by telling them of many things without teaching them you will make them seem to know much, while for the most part they know nothing"

Yes but only at a bank once upon a time at the post office you could do the same and also change your pennies for pounds but it must be at a bank now :)
All my local post offices change coins.  :`

That's awesome! If you want to exchange a 1 euro coin to 1 cent coins here in the Netherlands, you have to pay more than the nominal value of the coins you want to exchange. For example, a roll of 50 1 eurocent coins costs here 3.50 euros, instead of just 50 cents. It's awful!
Luckily, there some helpful shop-owners up here, who would like to get rid of those useless (the Netherlands ditched them just as Finland did) 1 and 2 eurocent coins. So I often go to them instead of the local bank.

Is that just because they are hard to find in the Netherlands, or does it apply to all coins?

Quote: manxcat12Is that just because they are hard to find in the Netherlands, or does it apply to all coins?
Well, mostly because the Royal Dutch Mint doesn't mint Dutch eurocoins in a great amount anymore. They do make the 5 eurocent coin in great numbers, but coins with a higher value (20 ct, 50 ct, 2 euro, etc.) not.
And as a result of that banks only sell those coinrolls (with 1 and 2 eurocent coins) with a higher amount of money than the nominal value. Because we don't particularly use the 1 and 2 cent anymore, those coins became more worth than the nominal value. (Dutch banks only have 1 & 2 cents rolls with uncirculated coins which came from annual coinroll sets, which the RDM releases every year, the do sometimes have mixrolls, but that isn't very common).

So when I go to Portugal in the summer I should be watching out for Dutch 1 & 2 cents ?
Quote: Mark240590So when I go to Portugal in the summer I should be watching out for Dutch 1 & 2 cents ?
You could, but 1 cent coins from 1999 - 2004 (except 2002) and 2 cent coins from 1999 - 2004 aren't rare. So everything from 2005 and beyond is scarce.
