Token for One Penny 1811 [solved]

Ey, ey, ey! Long time no posting in the Forum! 😅

Hope you are all okey! Anyway, I am back here because I need some help… I got a Penny Token that I am not able to find it anyware (acsearch, ma shops, cgb, our catalogue, etc.) so I got 0 info about it. I hope that maybe, like in the past, you have the answer 😉

The token is pretty clear, it is a “Token for One Penny 1811” with (I guess) Wellington (+1, +2) in its observe.

It has theese characteristics:

  • Weight: 18.00 gr
  • Diameter: 33.50 mm
  • Edge: kind of reeded only in the very center os the edge.

The weight and the diameter are pretty similar to other One Penny Tokens but I dont find it and I need all the info you can provide me, starting with a simple thing... is it legit?

Like in the past, thanks in advace! 😇

It's a Birmingham issue, Withers 280 or 281 (they differ only in minor variants on the reverse).

It is not yet in the Numista catalogue, so far as I can tell.

This token is attributed to Edward Thomason and yours looks like Withers#280.

Thanks Camerinvs and Radrick for the answers. Now I do find some info online about them, at least 3 past auctions with some good examples sold and an idea of its value.

Will try to add it to the catalogue.

Thanks again!
