2 Mites "Courte" - Charles V: weird '?'/unknown entry in date list

5 posts • viewed 53 times

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know why there is a ‘?’ entry without a specified mintmark in the list of dates on this page of the 2 Mites "Courte" - Charles V: N#42350 (see picture below as well)?

I have not seen this before on other pages, and I wonder if it is useful to keep. Either you can determine the coin with mintmark and date, or you can't, but adding an ‘I don’t know'-option seems kind of cheap and just seems very irregular to me, mostly because other coin pages with the same possible ‘problem’ of not being able to identify the coin in question don't have this option.

I'd suggest to remove this, otherwise we'd have to add it to basically every coin page in case someone wouldn't be able to properly determine the date/mintmark… These are just my thoughts as I'm trying to uniformise some descriptions on pages that are seemingly all over the place.

Would love to hear your opinions.

Best regards,

Gerebernus

Leftover from old system where users could enter on the ? year line if the date on their coin wasn't readable. New system allows those users to enter on an Undetermined year line which isn't visible to other users. All those ? year lines were to be removed and members transfered to the Undermined year line but some were missed. A request in the  Numista coin catalog forum will get it fixed unless @Jarcek or other Catalog administrator sees it here first.

I see, thanks. Hopefully admind @Jarcek sees it here, otherwise I'll repost it on the other forum.

Yes, leftover. Feel free to tag me when reporting about these, I am erasing those.
