Queen Elizabeth silver token?

4 posts • viewed 83 times

Hello,

My friend send me pictures of this item from his grandpa's collection. We were not able to find what it is with google reverse image search.
On the reverse there is note “ARGENT” on the bottom, I suppose this means that it should be silver. Person on the obverse looks like Queen Elizabeth II, but there are no dates/years/mintmarks on the coin.

Any idea what it could be?

I've no idea, but I think you are looking in the wrong era if you think there is a likeness to QEII.

The woman, by her hairstyle and necklace, looks like she belonged to the Victorian/Edwardian (pre-WW1) era.

Good luck in the hunt!

Simon

Hello,

Can we have better photos please? And size (mm)?
Any information on the edge?

Thanks

Could be a French lady, as Argent is French for Silver.

If it were English it would have Silver on it.

Though could be made in France commemorating something English -

such as she looks like Queen Mary, the wife of George V [1911 Coronation].

Or from somewhere else. Any lettering visible - cannot tell from those pictures.
