Last prefix for 1975 Knight/Wheeler 50 dollar Australian paper note

Hi All,

I saw a table on Tasmanian numismatics that shared the first and last prefixes for all Australia paper money notes for all years. In the case of the $50 note signed by Knight/Wheeler ND(1975), this is what was listed on the table:

YAV – YBX (centre)
YAV – YCZ (side)

How do I interpret this, and if I bought a note with the YBX prefix, would that be considered a collectable note (providing other attributes such as grade etc were exceptional)?

If I keep quiet & walk away, it simply means..your stupidity isn't worth any more of my time.

After searching, I've got more information on this. The words 'Centre" and “Side” refer to the placement of the security thread within the note.

With this new found knowledge, does this mean that YBX would be awarded a true ‘last prefix’ status given that the centre and side security thread placement would generate two different types of note??

Yes, I would. This is just my opinion. You will find most dealers would do the same too.

That's promising and to me sounds logical. Thanks for your response.
