This is a 1980 dime I found. I’m brand new to this but I thought it was odd. I can’t tell if this is something added after it was minted or what. Any ideas?  I apologize for the poor resolution.

Hello and welcome to Numista!

 

It is indeed odd but is due to PMD (post mint damage). I can't tell exactly what happened from that picture but it could not come from the mint that way.

 

Maybe somebody tried to make a button out of it?

Welcome to Numista. Hopefully you are having fun on this amazing website. The hole was mostly added after the coin was minted.
